Proper Trailer Arrives For Surreal Skating Flick ‘Machotaildrop’
Here’s one that looks pretty interesting. Just last night a trailer popped up on youtube for a little indie flick called Machotaildrop that’s recently been making its rounds on the festival circuit, including TIFF 09. Its been getting pretty positive reviews from those who have seen it. Andrew David Long over at Twitch quotes “Machotaildrop amps up the budget and production values, mixes in tiny dashes of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Strange Brew, and adds some skilled character actors to come up with a giddy coming of age tale”. The story sounds intriguing enough, and the trailer makes it look and sound like a whole lot of fun. I’m curious to see where this fantasy goes, and if it successfully combines skating and the quirky comedy that it seems to be going for. Definitely worth checking out. Synopsis below and trailer at the bottom.
Machotaildrop is a highly visual and fantastical journey about an amateur skateboarder, Walter Rhum, who realizes his dream of turning pro and riding for the world’s greatest skateboard company… Machotaildrop. Set in an anachronistic time and place, Machotaildrop is the greatest skateboard company of its day and the regal and grand sport of skateboarding has been thriving for many generations. Walter’s journey serves as a window through which we discover the dark underbelly of what appears at first to be a benign skateboard company.
