Miramax Falls Prey To Financial Ruin

Yup, according to sources all over the web, legendary production house Miramax is no more. This is relatively unsettling news as for nearly thirty years, Miramax brought the best of would-be arthouse directors into the mainstream, and single handedly built the careers of Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, Robert Rodriguez, and a slew of others. Founded by the ballsy and often controversial Weinstein brothers, Miramax grew from literally nothing and ultimately became the cause of its own demise after the sale to Disney. There is still rumor that the Weinsteins may buy the company name back, but for now, all Miramax employees are on the street effective today, and the studio’s doors are shut. Rest in peace.
