Insanely Cool Teaser For Patrick Hughes ‘Red Hill’
Australia isn’t a country usually associated with Westerns, but Patrick Hughes’ directorial debut Red Hill looks like one of the finest films in the genre to come out in a long time. Taking a cue from recent predecessors such as No Country For Old Men, and The Assassination of Jesse James, Australia’s landscape is brought to the forefront in what looks like one of the most gorgeous films this year. Premiering at the Berlin International Film Festival in just a couple weeks, Patrick Hughes recently sent the first teaser for the film over to the good folks at Twtich. I had actually read other news a while back on the film but disregarded it for the lack of a proper trailer and any convincing details. Well now there’s a trailer and I couldn’t be more excited for this flick. Described as an old school revenge western, and with a tagline that reads “Revenge just rode into town.” it’s hard to ignore how epic and freakin’ awesome this movie looks. Check out the synopsis below directly from Patrick Hughes’ website and the trailer below that, courtesy of Twitch.
When a young police officer, Constable Shane Cooper, relocates to the small high-country town of ‘Red Hill’ with his pregnant wife, he does so in the hope of starting a new family. But when news of a prison break in the city sends the local law enforcement officers into a panic, Shane’s first day on duty quickly goes from bad to worse. Enter Jimmy Conway, a convicted murderer serving life behind bars, he returns to the isolated outpost seeking revenge. Now caught in the middle of what quickly becomes a horrifying blood bath, Shane will be forced to take the law into his own hands if he is to survive. A tight action/thriller, “Red Hill” unfolds over the course of a single day. Told with explosive action and chilling violence, the story is a modern day western set in high-country Australia.

I’m also including a link for Hughes’ short film entitled Signs. I watched this a while back and I’m just now making the connection. Pretty awesome stuff; we can expect big things from this guy in the future. Check out the film here.
